In-Network Therapy Insurance

Greenwich Counseling is in-network with Cigna, Husky (Medicaid), UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna.

Because mental health insurance coverage varies by plan, our office can contact your insurance provider directly to verify your therapy benefits, including copays, deductibles, and session limits.

Out-of-Network Therapy Insurance

For many insurance plans, our practice is considered an out-of-network therapy provider. Many clients with out-of-network mental health benefits are eligible for partial reimbursement for therapy sessions.

If you choose to use out-of-network benefits, our office will provide you with a superbill. You can submit the superbill to your insurance company to request partial reimbursement for therapy sessions, based on your out-of-network mental health benefits. Reimbursement is sent directly to you from the insurance company, not from us.

Superbills do not guarantee reimbursement as coverage and reimbursement amounts depend on the individual insurance plan.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) & Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified healthcare expenses, including therapy sessions, deductibles, and co-insurance. We accept all HSA and FSA cards for payment.

Private Pay Therapy (Choosing Not to Use Insurance)

Using insurance for therapy is always optional. Many clients choose private pay therapy for personal, professional, or privacy-related reasons.

Insurance companies often place restrictions on the length, frequency, and type of mental health treatment they will cover. They may also require specific diagnoses or limit therapeutic approaches, which can affect the course of therapy. Additionally, using insurance creates a permanent behavioral health record and involves sharing clinical information with third-party payers.

If you prefer not to use insurance, you may pay privately for therapy services. Private pay therapy offers greater flexibility, increased privacy, and the ability to tailor treatment to your individual goals—without insurance involvement or paperwork.

Couples Therapy

Couples counseling is not always covered by insurance. Insurance companies often require a formal mental health diagnosis and can place restrictions on the type and focus of treatment, which makes coverage for couples therapy inconsistent and challenging. Because of this, couples sessions at our practice are offered on an out-of-pocket basis.

The fee for couples counseling is $200 per 60-minute session. Most couples begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and address concerns effectively, and then transition to biweekly sessions as progress is made.

Couples therapy is typically solution-focused and goal-oriented, and in many cases can be more time-limited than individual therapy, depending on the nature and complexity of the issues that bring you to counseling.

Cancellation Policy

If you fail to cancel a scheduled appointment, we cannot use this time for another client, and you will be billed for the entire cost of your missed appointment. A full session fee is charged for missed appointments or cancellations with less than a 24-hour notice unless it is due to illness or an emergency. Thank you for your consideration regarding this important matter.
